LINK is a research and consulting company based in Rome, which operates mainly in the design and development of software systems. It was founded in 1988; soon it has been recognized as applied research laboratory, able to perform technology transfer towards industrial enterprises in the context of some national development programmes.
LINK has extensive experience in the field of ICT and its applications, mainly distributed applications based on the Internet, semantic technologies, text processing and hypermedia. The sectors in which it is most active are: collaboration platforms, training environments, distance learning, valorization of cultural and environmental heritage, decision support, evaluation of software tools, feasibility studies.
In the past decades LINK, in collaboration with prof. Giovanni Lariccia, has developed several extended versions of the educational language/environment LOGO, which has been adopted by hundreds of teachers and is still used in some schools and families.
In the Erasmus+ Project CommonS (2014-1-IT02-KA200-003402), coordinated by Prof. Stefano Lariccia (Sapienza), LINK was the main developer of the CommonSpaces platform for collaborative learning, addressing also tutoring and mentoring.
In the recent H2020 Project Up2U (GA 732049), LINK maintained and extended CommonSpaces and strongly supported the application of xAPI and related technologies to the Learning Analytics activity. LINK applied in Up2U also its experience in systems interoperability and its skills in the use of Python, which is the most used language in data analytics, thanks to a rich set of software libraries and great environments such as Jupyter; the latter was also used in Up2U, in collaboration with the CERN partner.
