Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are the result of the application of technologies called Information (IT) management of Geographic Information (GI). The term Geographic Information System (GIS) has three meanings: GIS as a discipline; GIS as a project, each of the embodiments, existing implementations; GIS as software, i.e. programs and applications of GIS project.
